Visiting orphanages

Pack for a Purpose does not condone visiting orphanages, as this can often lead to negative impacts on children. The accommodation or tour company working with the orphanage will deliver the supplies in a coordinated and respectful way so that the children can benefit from them. Your generosity is not diminished because you do not interact with the children.

Project Description

Women in the Wild and Futures in the Wild

Project Needs

Women in the Wild is a grassroots organization led by Indigenous Maasai women in Transmara, Kenya. Operating within the Maasai Mara ecosystem, the organization uplifts women and girls who are disproportionately impacted by climate change, displacement, and gender inequality. As droughts erode cultural traditions and displace pastoralist families, Women in the Wild is reclaiming space for women as climate justice leaders and cultural stewards through mentorship, storytelling, and land-based healing practices.

Futures in the Wild exists to demonstrate that conservation works best when it is community-led, economically viable, and rooted in long-term partnership. We work alongside landowners and local leaders to restore landscapes, strengthen livelihoods, and secure meaningful futures for both people and wildlife. Futures in the Wild is a locally run, purpose-led initiative based in the northern Maasai Mara, Kenya. It supports education, conservation, health, and women’s empowerment projects that restore balance between people, wildlife, and the land. The program operates through close partnerships with the Enonkishu, Mbokishi, and Ol Chorro Conservancies and the Mara Training Centre — making it a living model of regenerative coexistence.
