Project Description
We support several rural schools located near the tourist areas of Quepos and Manuel Antonio. These small institutions provide education to children from low-income communities.
Project Needs
General school supplies:
Chalk, lined paper, notebooks, white sheets/reams of paper, backpacks, colored poster boards, colored pencils, compasses, crayons, erasers, glue sticks, portable pencil sharpeners, markers, pencils, pencil cases/bags, pens, protractors, whiteboard markers, whiteboard erasers, staplers, and solar-powered calculators.
Reference Materials:
Dictionaries (in English and Spanish) and age-appropriate encyclopedias on CD.
Educational Flashcards in English and Spanish:
Alphabet, math, and vocabulary words.
Textbooks/Reading Books in English and Spanish:
Age-appropriate storybooks, biology, general science, health, language/grammar, and math.
Wall Charts in English and Spanish:
Human body, math, science, and world maps.
Educational Games/Toys:
Bananagrams, chess games, Connect Four, puzzles, Scrabble, and stuffed animals.
Art Supplies:
Paintbrushes and acrylic paints, craft scissors.
Musical Instruments:
Castanets, cymbals, güiros, harmonicas, maracas, recorders, tambourines, triangles, and xylophones.
Computer Hardware/Software:
USB drives and working laptops.
Sports/Outdoor Activities:
Jump ropes, basketballs, soccer balls, team uniforms/kits for soccer, tennis balls, and whistles.
Clothing/Footwear:
New or gently used clothing and shoes for children.
Health/Personal Care:
Soaps, shampoos, combs, hairbrushes, hair clips and elastic bands, hand cream, toothbrushes, and toothpaste.
